My eMac died again...this will be the 3rd time it has died since May.
1st time needed new hard drive
2nd time needed new logic board
3rd time... don't know, has no video. I just dropped it off to
my local Apple Store.

My question do I have any recourse to ask for a new one yet? By the time they are done it will be new one anyway.

Who would I complain to about asking for a new one. I am just afraid something else will go later. Thank God for Applecare.

I have the 1Ghz Superdrive model.

Man, that sucks. I would definitely throw a stink for a newer machine. Not that the newer ones are all that much better. I've had my eMac 1 GHz Superdrive model that's been overclocked and modified running non stop for close to two years now. The only problem I've had is some memory that went bad, and the original Superdrive stopped burning ultra cheap media. Switched that out for a dual layer burner and it solved the problem.
Good luck either way!

Someone from Steve Job's office called me. I emailed him my concerns about the eMac needing repair again. They called the store and the machine is fixed and being tested now. If gave me his direct number and if the machine gives me any more trouble I can call him direct and they would discuss a replacement.

I am not thrilled about needing the repairs but I have been nothing but pleased with Apple's service.

Is anyone familiar with the eMacs innards? They replaced the logic board and now the crt assembly...and the hard drive last May. Their is not much left is there? I just hope the parts were new.

Apple called...the machine is stil not working right. They changed the crt assembly (?) and the video cuts in and out. They are still testing and if it is not fixed by Friday they will replace it and transfer my data.

Is this a known problem with the emac?

Speaking of known problems, my 800Mhz eMac's screen has a bouncing bottom right quarter. It's more pronounced at the higher screen resolution.

I remember ages ago from looking on MacNN's news pages that there were problems with monitors… is it worth getting this problem checked out? Can't find anything on Apple's website.

Turn the volume down or get external speakers.

Generally, I run the sound through a pair of headphones so as not to annoy the others in the office. The internal speakers are barely ever used.

Apple replaced the display/analog assembly and the logic board and so far everything is ok. This is the 2nd logic board. What I just noticed is my bluetooth mouse used to cut out and now it doesnt. Hopefully I won't have any more trouble. If I do Apple said they would replace the machine.
