I have the prior Cinema Dispaly 23" HD. Can I use this monitor on a G5 Powermac? If so, what do I need as I think the G5 has a different connector?

Yes, you can use it. I use the even older 22" cinema display on my G5. The G5 has an ADC and DVI connector.

I expect before long, Apple will drop ADC on new GPU cards and will provide DVI only. Until then, you don't have a problem.

I have my first generation 22" Cinema Display hooked up to my dual 1.8 G5 without a problem.

All display cards in G5 has one ADC port and one DVI port. The only graphic card which will not support ADC is the new GeForce 6800 which has 2 DVI-II ports. Howewver, you can purchase the DVI > ADC adapter for your old ADC Cinema Display.
The stupidest user.
