Help! My dual G5 2.0GHz won't boot. I bought it October of last year, so the warranty just expired.

The video card died earlier this year, Apple retail replaced it under warranty. When I watch DVD movies, the whole system will often freeze up, the fans speed up to hurricane force levels and I have to reboot the machine using the power button. A long time ago, I had to buy Diskwarrior to fix the main drive. This was a while ago though, and in fact the Diskwarrior I have now does not work with 10.3.x boot drives or whatever, even though it did work with 10.2 or who knows what the cut-off version was.

That's the history, here's the problem.

I can't get past the multilingual you must reboot this computer warning.

I have tried to boot from OSX CD-ROM. I get the multilingual warning, and then oddly enough, a blue screen.

I have swapped the 2 SATA 160GB drives around. No change.

I pulled out the 2GB of Crucial RAM and left just the original 512MB of Apple OEM RAM in there, no change.

I tried booting into single user mode, I could do that, but don't know what kinds of commands I can type to get some diagnostic information.

I tried to research the issue but found nothing, especially since my search terms are so generic - reboot osx won't boot

Any tips on how I could better diagnose what the problem is before I pay$$$ to take it into Apple?

I basically left this computer on all the time. I'd put it into sleep mode. I went out of town for a week and so I actually turned it off. Came back from vacation and it won't boot.

As if I even need to mention this, I have a client dying to meet with me to do some work, and I'm dead in the water. I have a 15" powerbook, but the files I need are on my dead G5.

Thanks!

Tried to target my Powerbook via Firewire holding down T when booting. Same error, and it also crashes my Powerbook.

Hold down option to get into open Firmware, still errors using the Start-up drive.

Can't boot from Tech Tool 4.02 CD. Same you must reboot error.

The only thing I can do is cmd S into single user mode.

What are some diagnostic commands that I can enter in single user mode.

They damn fans hit full speed eventually in single user mode...

argh... third major problem with this Mac in a year...

Took computer into Apple store. It's being sent out for repair, they will call me sometime after Thanksgiving.

Looks like a CPU may be bad...
