I am about to replace the HD in my G4 800 iMac. Can I just set the jumper settings on the new drive as master or should it be set as cable select?

Thanks for the help!
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

When you take out the old drive, you can see what settings it had, and apply these to your new drive.
I would guess it should be master - just changed my harddrive and the jumper are set to Master. The only difference is that my iMac is a generation younger than yours (G3), but I guess it's the same...

If you only have one (internal) drive and I am assuming thats the case since you are using an iMac then set the drive to master. If you set the drive to cable select you shouldn't have any problems either. If you set the drive to slave I have a feeling you will not notice any problems aside from a possibly longer startup while it tries to find another drive thats not there.
