What is going on? I moved from Georgia to Virignia and padded the computer well along the ride and now I've set it up again and it just doesn't read the ANY optical media. What could have happened and how could I fix it? Happen to anyone before? I think the comuter was lying on it's side durring the trip if that matters. Please help!

So long.

the first thing you should do is check all cable connections...
either disconnect, and plug back in, or just check if they are tightly fit...
(after transporting the Mac it could happen)

I opened it up, unplugged the two cables (there were slots for more, but I didn't seee any others dangling around), and plugged them back in. Still it doesn't work. What could be wrong? How can I fix it?

So long,

Oh and just to calrify, my computer recognises the Superdrive is there and it ejects and everything just fine but when I insert a disc nothing happens no matter what type of media it is! It doesn't even give an error. It is just as if the tray had nothing in it.

So long.

My first Pioneer burner did that. Basically, I think it overheated or otherwise crapped out, so it's possible that your laser died, or is just simply dirty. Try blowing some compressed air in there or try a lens cleaning device. Worse comes to worst you'll just have to buy a new drive.
