I have an MDD867 that I am forced to keep through my Tiger development and beta testing. It currently has an anemic GeForce 4MX driving my 20" ACD. However, I don't do any gaming or 3D work, so it functions OK.

What card would you recommend to replace the GF4MX and give me 128mb vram and support for Tiger's 2D acceleration along with a native connection to the previous generation of ACDs?

Your choices are pretty limited. Either the Radeon 9800 Pro or GeForce 4 Ti.

the radeon 9800 does not come with an ADC port, just a DVI and VGA. If you need a ADC port you need the Geforce4 Ti (ADC and DVI port)

I have the single-CPU G4 867. I upgraded its stock GeForce 2MX to a GeForce 4Ti, and it made a huge difference not only in games (not of interest to you I know) but also in general GUI responsiveness. It has an ADC port that drives my 17" Apple display just fine.

Since you have an MDD, you can also use the Radeon 9700 Pro. Not many were made so they might be expensive, but it's the only card that:

1) Has 128 MB of VRAM
2) Is compatible with your G4
3) Supports 100% GPU acceleration of CoreImage/CoreVideo
4) Has ADC

The GeForce 4Ti is probably your best bet, and it's a fast card. Technically it won't allow you to offload all CoreImage work to the GPU, but it's fast enough that it should still be fine. But if you can find a Radeon 9700 Pro for the same price as the 4Ti, I'd get that instead.
