Hi,

with the G5 being around for some time now, I was wondering about operating in a 64 bit platform, is there a real advantage to it ?

apart from highly specialized scientific applications (i.e. Virginia Tech), are there any apps. that will truly benefit from the G5's 64 bit capabilities ?
I understand that this depends a lot on the developers, but supposing that they do code for 64 bit processors, would for example a game boost it's performance ? or an average app. like Freehand ?

Thx.

(btw. I did a search on this, but the thread are rather long and with lots of useless fighting in them).

Basically it's just apps that deal with very large integers, and apps that use more than 4GB of ram. Everything else should slow down slightly in 64 bit mode.
