Spoke to the nice lady at apple today about ordering the spec i posted and she said, as soon as your ready to go ahead we can finalise details and i can sort you out some discount..

I said discount... sounds good to me - what we talking.

She said half price RAM upgrade

That means a saving of £75 for me

Sounds like a good deal to me. I'm typing this on my 20" G5 and am still blissfully happy with it. The only possible downside with ordering from Apple is the delivery times, mine took quite a while but i did order just after they were announced. Dont know what the delivery time is like now.

Good news...

Just got off the phone with the very nice and helpfull lady.... she ended up giveing me £41. Which is better than nothing

So the total price i paid was £1,726.00 for the spec posted in the first post and including Free delivery....

Just awaiting the confirmation email now (takes about 30mins).

She then said to expect a dispatch confirmation in about a weeks time
However delivery is still expected in 2-3weeks

Quick question... once it been dispatched is there anyway for me to track it (UK) ??

Thanks for the advice and i look forward to getting it even more now.

Noonster, bet you have your imac in hand by Wednesday. Had mine within 48 hours after leaving Shanghai, and that's after it bounced around Anchorage, Memphis, Winnipeg & ended up in Toronto. Apple seems to be really fast with the shipping.
Maybe you should plan on a sick day later this week Enjoy.

Yeah it will be the first mac i have owned...
Using Windows XP on a Dell Laptop at the mo.

I lived in Canada for a couple of years 96/97 and used them then... the old cube's. - Loved them.

Came back to the UK and dad bought a PC - as that was the norm over here... so been using them (PC's) up until about 7months ago when my brother bought a 15" powerbook.

Soon as i saw it and played with it i thought, ive got to get into the mac scene - so here i am awaiting the iMac G5 and hopeing i have made the right descision leaving the PC world!!! (I know i have )

No apologies necessary man! I was excited to get my new computer too.

I'm no Euromite so I'm only guessing at the meaning of EDC. It could mean Equine Dung Chunks for all I know *shrug*.

It shouldn't have any more customs to go through, since its now in a European union counrty, right? If it's in Luxembourg now, I'd say it'll be on the island by Thurs, and in your hands by Friday, not too far off my original guess. They're not in the warehousing business, so they keep it moving.

Without your space helmet, Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult.

So it looks like tomorrow, most likely. Guess I was off on my prediction, must have been because of the time difference
Will you be using the imac for home or business? (or both)

At the very least, you'll find out tomorrow what APP means.

20 inch, it just looks small in the picture for some reason, damn photographic optical tricks, the desk is huge too but always looks small...

I forgot to clear my screen so part of the background is covered. i designed it the week b4 and had to do alot of work on the photographic part cus the clarity and brightness of the screen brought out so many digital flaws.

Look at the top one!!
I know for a Fact someone was in the house as i was there!!!

Rang TNT this morning and they said
"Your good wernt due for delivery until today, however they were ready so a driver took them with him yesterday, as he was going to deliver them if he got chance.... It looks like he didnt get chance BUT they are back out for delivery today with a different driver".

I said that doesnt explain the bit about me not being in when i was.

Her reply "I can only guess, but i think the driver hit the wrong key"

AHHHHH Not happy!!!
It better come today...

It's taken two weeks from original order? I never quite understand that 'despatch within 3 days' on the Apple website - I guess that implies they'll despatch within 3 days of receiving the order....but it can take another 10 days to for you to receive your order?

I was hoping to order just before Xmas so I get the machine between Xmas and New Year - so it could be all set up in my spare time

Mine only took 2week because i customised it - added Ram, Bluetooth, Airport etc...

If you just get a standard one you could have it within a week!
