Hi

As we all know, the emac has been around for quite a while now, running on G4.

Does anybody know if we will see a revison of the emac within the nextvyear, as I am lookign to purchase top of the range emac for some school work.

Is it likely to make the move to g5 within the next year or not?

Thanks, James

It'll probably be updated really soon. Last update was many moons ago. I'd guess another quiet update around the same time as the PowerBooks, just like last time. It could get a G5 at 1.6 GHz, but I'd guess it's more likely to get a 1.5 GHz G4. The rest of the stats should remain about the same, though I do hope it gets a better video card for running all of Tiger's CoreVideo effects.

"That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!" *wheeze*

Here are a couple of items from the "rumor" sites:
http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=760
http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2004/...25003454.shtml

It looks like a G5 eMac is in the future, but unfortunately not in the immediate future. I'm with Luca, hoping for maybe a speed bump and a better graphics card in the next upgrade. Then I'll probably wait for some to show up in the Apple refurb store and get one.

Thanks for that information.
DO you think that it is liukely that there will be an eMac g5 revision before march/ april next year?

Also, is it likely that the price would be a lo more expoensive than the current emac range, due to the g5 processor?

Sorry, I have no idea of if/when the eMac will be upgraded to a G5. I think the best thing to do is to just watch those rumor sites (appleinsider, macrumors) to see what they are saying.

As for pricing, I would guess that it will stay the same. Consider that the price of a G4 15" iMac was $1300 just last summer, then when they came out with the new models the price stayed the same and it got a G5 processor and a display increase to 17".
