Does the PowerMac G5 recognize the keyboard and mouse via the BTO bluetooth option when you are booting up the Mac?

In other words, can I hold the 'C' key on the wireless bluetooth keyboard and the PowerMac boot off the CD normally?

Or must I connect up a USB keyboard for this?

I am considering ordering the Bluetooth+Keyboard+Mouse option, but want to be sure that it works as like the wired ones.

Thanks in advance!

I've got an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and a Belkin USB Bluetooth dongle with my G4. I am unable to use the keyboard until the OS has recognized it. Meaning, no booting with the C key.

Rats. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, even though I knew better. Oh, well.

I bought the single processor G5 1.8 gHz about a month ago. But I had the PSU problem where is sounded like a loud hard drive. Bad PSU, I was told at the Genius Bar. I returned it though (within the 14 days).

I am hesitant to get another, but I want to.

The dual 1.8's use a 650 watt power supply, if I am not mistaken. I wonder if I would have better luck....

When you order a G5 with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, do you still get a wired keyboard and mouse? Because there are quite a few keyboard and mouse presses to do different things during startup, like holding mouse button to open the CD tray, and pressing alt to choose your startup system (when they're on different partitions), and if there is no wired keyboard mouse supplied and BT doesn't work on startup, you're stuffed, unless you have an old one lying around.

Has anyone here got a Powermac with built in BT option and BT keyboard/mouse?

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

To the best of my knowledge, when you CTO a BT Mac, you only receive the BT mouse and BT keyboard.

I could have swore this was made possible with a bluetooth firmware upgrade. but, since i don't even own said keyboard and mouse I can't comment with confidence...
found it;
Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse: Frequently Asked Questions
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...num=86651#faq6

Question 6: Can I use the Apple Wireless Keyboard to start up from CD, start up into Open Firmware, or start up in Safe Mode?
Answer: If your computer has built-in Bluetooth or the D-Link DBT-120 (Rev B2 or later) adapter, you can use the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse to initiate most startup commands. See document 75459, "Mac OS X: Keyboard Shortcuts".

Pressing the eject key as the computer starts up does not eject a disc from the disc drive the way a wired keyboard does. To eject a disc at startup, hold down the mouse button.

Note: Although you can use a wireless keyboard to start up in Single-User mode or in Safe Boot mode, they will not work once the computer is started up in these modes. To continue in Single-User mode or in Safe Boot mode, use a wired keyboard and mouse.

If you find that you are unable to use key commands at startup, make sure you have installed the latest Bluetooth firmware update, and that you are using a supported Bluetooth adapter. See document 86493, "Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse: About the Bluetooth Firmware Update".
