It's always risky being a purchaser of any first gen Apple product. While you get to show off your great new toy, it inevitably gets, speed bumped, improved with larger screens over a number of revisions.

So as an early adopter of the 15" iMac G4 "lamp" design, how have you kept your machine current? I'm gonna try dropping in a 16x Superdrive at some point...maybe a larger hard drive? Hmm..come to think of it...can one do much more!

RAM, Hard Drive, and Superdrive are about all I can think of off hand that you can upgrade in an iMac. There are no CPU or GPU upgrades that I am aware of.

It's one of the drawbacks that come with any iMac, but they seem to be holding their value well, so you could always sell it and get a new iMac or maybe a used PM G4 for a reasonable amount.

I just added a new hard drive and more ram to my iMac 800. Love it. The new hard drive is quieter and faster (Seagate 200, 8 MB) and the extra ram helps a bit also. I still love my iMac. It does everything I need it to do. It will be 3 this March and I won't replace it until its 4.
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?
