Hi, I'm a newbie with a brand new iMac 20.
So far, its been great, but a few days ago I started having trouble with the internal modem.
It will not connect to my ISP, the phone line is busy. Well, after some quick troubleshooting, I quickly determined it was the computer that was causing the problem...even when shut down the phone line will be "off the hook" when connected to the iMac (Unplugged the phone line is open.)
The modem seems functional...it will dial, but it can't connect.
It seemed to me that there should be someway in the network utilties or modem prefs that I could reset the modem. I've tried some things, but nothing worked. The computer is now back to the default settings.
I called Apple care, and they told me its the modem and it needs to be replaced. They said there was nothing software wise I could do.
Still, I'm dubious..I can't believe my two week old machine is broken already!
If anyone knows of any Network/Modem/system settings I can try...please respond.
Thanks
