Hi all. I've searched through the forums and found some who say they have the Global Village Teleport Internal 56K modem functioning properly under OS X, but none specify what settings / cirucmstances they use to get it to work. I'm having trouble getting it to work on my Blue and White G3 machine. I'm running 10.3.7 and the OS seems to recognize it, but whenever I try to use AOL or even the basic Internet Connect application, it never actually dials out, and it usually comes back telling me that the modem could not detect a carrier signal. I know there's a dial tone there and all connections are good. I've used all kinds of modem scripts from the pull-down list. Perhaps the firmware needs to be flashed from within OS 9? I would GREATLY appreciate it if anyone can help me out.

Thanks!

I'm not aware of any firmware updates for that modem. Mine's always just worked in Mac OS X (but only for data... Panther's fax function won't see it).

In any case, I've just been able to use mine with the Apple 56K v.90 script.

Have you tested your modem in Mac OS 9, to make sure it's not defective hardware?

I had the same problem with my brother's B&W. I ended up replacing the modem and it worked just fine. Hopefully you won't have to go that route. I wish I could help more.

I just read that some people on Macintouch are having the same problem with Apple modems (the GV and Apple hardware is almost entirely identical: GV built the Apple modems back then) ever since 10.3.5.

No clear fix, though.
