For the past 4.5 years I've used my Lime iMac DV 400 with little worries. The only thing that has bugged me ever since I got this thing back in 2000 was the loud-ass hard drive. You could hear that thing a mile away!! It was loud, believe me. Even still the stock 10 GB HDD has lasted this long with no signs of stopping. In any case, I was in Staples yesterday and bought a 120 GB HDD to replace my old one. I couldn't believe how easy it was!!! I got some directions by doing a search on google and that was it. This new drive is a Maxtor brand and it is soooooo quiet!!! I love it.

Yep, those iMacs make it fairly easy, and putting a quiet drive in a fanless computer is a revelation.

It's amazing how much useful life Macs have. 5 year old PCs are useless, but a Mac that age is still viable for many tasks.

imac dv 400 MHz ...
(Tried to overclock; didn't work)

still going strong ... until graduation

still good for light photoshop work, ghost recon, internet, and bit torrent, though iphoto and imovie choke.

I have replaced the hard drive, though I was thinking of making the hard drive and cd external by getting a large ide cable and stringing it out ...
