So I have been debating what kind of desktop I want to get to replace my G4 800 17" iMac. I just ordered a Dual 2.5 with 512RAM, 250GIG HD, 6800GT Video card, BT, AE. I also added a 20" Cinema to the order, and of course got AppleCare for it, since both items are covered then.

I will be upgrading the memory to 1.5 gigs and so I will be adding a 1gig (2 X 512s) I had planned to order from RAMJET since I have had good luck with them in the past. Does anyone have any other company they like for RAM? Really looking for a decent price and solid performance. Thoughts and suggestions welcome and yes I will post pics when it comes!
Current Macs:
15" PB 1.5ghz G4, 512 mem, 80 HD, 128 vram
Dual 2.5 PM G5, 1.5 ram, 240 HD, 6800 GT
20" ACD
40 Gig iPod Photo

I see they have two types of memory for the PowerMac, looks like a higher performance line they call ballistics or something. Is it worth the extra money to get that over the normal RAM they sell? I will probably take it to 2 Gigs but for now, cash restraints on all this lol, it will be 1.5 gigs, eventually Ill add another Gig or two.

The cool thing about ramjet is that they offer 2GB RAM modules in the form of two 1GB sticks, which Crucial does not offer. The only way to get to 8GB of RAM is via these modules. I have Crucial in all my slots for a total of 4GB, but I'm thinking of replacing 2 slots for the additional gigabyte of RAM. For the work I do (video editing/compositing), every little bit of RAM makes a big difference.

Ramjet is a solid vendor, probably the only one other than Crucial that I feel completely comfortable with. Though I wonder why Crucial doesn't sell any sticks greater than 512MB? Is it somehow not up to their standards? Hmmm.

Don't bother with the Crucial Ballistics line. Extra $$ for flashing LEDs.

I've had great luck with Datamem. I've ordered dozens of RAM modules from them. Only had a problem once, and they corrected it immediately and without a hassle.

Non-ECC, non-registered 2GB DIMMs are not yet available. And if you find any, please post the link.
