Hi everyone,

I just got my new 17" 1.8GHz iMac G5. Wow! It's a beautiful machine (appearance), the screen is gorgeous!!! (although a tad too warm, but that can be re-calibrated), it seems pretty fast (although I haven't put in my extra 512MB of RAM so it's only at 256MB at the moment), and guess what? It's QUIET!!! This is replacing my previous iMac G4 800MHz machine, which was noticeably louder. So I'm pleased. Hopefully this horrible fan noise issue some people are having will avoid knocking at my door...?

Congrats on your new iMac!
That's great that your's is quiet!
I wish I could say the same for mine!
Mine is loud and annoying as hell, but since I made the mistake of buying mine at an Apple Store(What was I thinking?) I think I'll live with my noise for the time being rather than put-up with Apple Store's return-hassle.
Apple-Store, from now-on I'm buying my Apple products at Fry's Electronics!
Hopefully either Apple or the community of enthusiasts will come-up with some creative solutions to the noise problems that the 17" iMacG5's have been experiencing...
