I have a imac G4 800mhz. I can only put in SDRAM and I currently have 512 MB (2 x 256MB) installed. Will I see a significant performance difference if I upgrade the user accessible RAM slot to 512MB (giving the computer 768MB)? Since I can't access the other memory slot, this is all I can do, correct?

Thanks.

Yes, I think you will, especially under load, like when you have many apps open, or lots of windows.

Another yes. The more RAM you have the better your machine will run.

Yes, but...
512MB is around the sweet spot for OS X. If you had 256MB and went to 512MB, it will be far more noticable than going from 512MB to 768MB. It's gonna help mostly when running many apps at once (like tooki said) or with RAM hungry apps like Photoshop.

I wouldn't call 512MB the sweet spot. I'd peg it around 768-1024MB.

But the upgrade from 256->512MB is definitely one of the most noticeable.

Thanks! I guess I'll start looking into some prices for RAM.
