I ordered the Dual 2.0 PowerMac on Thursday and it shipped tonight! The estimated delivery is on Monday. I'm hoping it comes sooner because I can't wait to use my new machine.

One question I do have is about the Super Drive. I noticed it does not list DVD-RW as a supported media? Does it not write -RW disks? I'm coming from the PC world and every DVD burner I've seen supports the -RW format.

I'm kind of a first time full Mac user. I did purchase a Dual 867Mhz G4 tower (my first Mac ever) over the summer from a friend, but sold it in a few weeks because it seemed sluggish in tasks such as web browsing and opening apllications such as mail. I've recently ditched my high-end PC and I will be using this Mac for all of my tasks. I haven't used Pather before, so I will probably be posting again for help haha.

Can't wait until Monday!

the drive itself does, but Apple uses some shitty firmware that cripples some features of the drive. I am unsure if this is one of them, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I thought it supported -RW but Apple crippled it not to support +RW...

The drive itself isn't crippled. With third-party software (e.g. Toast), you can write it all. Also, iLife '05 enables -/+ R/RW use on all G5 models (since all the DVD writers in G5s support all 4 blank DVD types).

iLife `05 advertises that it supports all four types of DVDs (+, -, you do the permutations).

Probably, but it still depends on the specific drive.

Sorry for the dupe.
