is there a difference between buying a g5 from the US and one from Australia? I'm looking at purchasing one from an auction that belonged to someone from australia. What would be the difference?

Buying a G5 from Australia should be no problem, although you will need to get a new power cable for it. The only machine that can't be moved around as you wish is the G5 iMac from the US/Japan that won't work in the rest of the world. The other way around works though.
