No one knows at this point. Anybody giving you a firm release date is just their own conjecture. The released developer builds have not even reached beta status yet, so it may be later rather than sooner. It's still projected to arrive in the 1st half of this year, so you may be waiting until June.

Apple is saying that Tiger is supposed to be released the "first half" of 2005. I wouldn't really expect it until Summer.

That sounds about right.

Are you sure it will ship with it? I called Apple with several questions, one of which was similar to yours. The employee that I spoke with didn't seem very sure about Tiger, and said he couldn't speculate about it at this point. He told me that all Macs will ship with Tiger when it comes out, but didn't know when I asked him how the Mac Mini will support it without a suitable graphics card.

Jobs mentioned that Tiger would ship first half of 2005 which could be anytime between now and June. So it would probably about a week before or after it starts to ship.

the mini will support tiger. it will not support core-image-video-dill pickle.

currently every macintosh in the world does not support core-image-video-dill pickle and we are doing just fine.

there is a scale to the capabilities of every computer. we can't expect apple or any computer manf. (longhorn i am looking in your direction) to support every tech with every computer.

The OS and software isn't even DONE yet, so everyone stop making ASSUMPTIONS that "This won't work" or "That won't work". Wait until it's finished and released. God.

Relax... Who cares if people are making assumptions? This is a discussion forum -- someone asked a question, and people tried to answer it. Theres no need to get worked up.

I say jump in with both feet. Tiger looks awesome, but its atleast 2-3 months down the pipe. Me, I don't want to wait that long for a mini. Thats why im typing on mine

For 500$, jump on in, the waters fine. Panther is AWESOME, Tiger is even more so.

Look at it this way, your mini will be worth 350-400 in 5 months, maybe even more, if apple can't supply demand. So you could sell the mini, and buy a new one (with tiger) for a minimal 100-150$ investment.

Or you can just buy tiger for 129$ and install on your mini. Either way, you will be using a very awesome computer instead of sitting wishing you had one.

PS:

I don't see Mac Mini hardware changes till ATLEAST fall, def after tiger is released, so all those waiting for a second revision mini, its your perogative, but at this price, it makes waiting on technology all the more stupid. I just laugh when i hear "well, im waiting till it has this"

In technology land, you are best to pull the trigger when you see something you like, because you could be waiting YEARS if you use the "once its 100mhz faster" or "when it has this" mentality, because that is ALWAYS right around the corner... then the next corner comes, and you will be waiting for that.

lol
