I've got a new DP2.5GHz G5, and I've noticed that when I play a DVD (using Apple's DVD Player app), I get tons of random white speckles, like video snow, in the DVD video window. Occurs in windowed or full-screen mode.

Also occurs when playing a Video_TS folder ripped down to the machine.

Happens on multiple DVD movies - not just one single disc.

Has anyone seen this?

The machine's boot ROM firmware is up-to-date. The drive is a Pioneer DVR-117.

EDIT: Never mind. Solved. The video card's overclock seemed to be the issue, though the same card (physically the same card, not just same type) worked just fine at this same overclock in a rev. 1 DP2.0GHz. Weird. Anyway, problem solved.

This is why over-clocking is a bad idea. You get inconsistent results. It's possible the heat distribution inside the machine is a little different.

ACSA 10.4/10.3, ACTC 10.3, ACHDS 10.3
