I'm about to click "check out" on www.apple.com for a dual 2.5 G5, 2GB ram, but before I do I wanna know how well it will handle 2 resource intensive programs, wow and vpc7 at the same time?

i'm pretty sure it will plow through them both, but my only experience is a g4 powerbook.

and i can't decide between the NVIDIA 6800 Ultra DDL or NVIDI 6800 GT DDL. is it worth the extra 100 the bump in clock speeds?

thanks.

Compared to a Powerbook, the dual 2.5 G5 is like night and day... it should have no problem chugging through two intensive apps, so long as neither program decides it wants more than 1 processor to itself, then you should notice no contention.

The GT isn't much slower than the Ultra - I think this has been discussed before, and it's something of the order of 25MHz, which is not much to miss. $100 on the other hand..

You could also save some $$$ by not specifiying the 2GB memory from Apple and buying it elsewhere for a fraction of the cost.

RAM = MISSION CRITICAL = CRUCIAL.COM or RAMJET.COM

... and some people have had good experiences with owc.com, but their customer service isn't consistent. Don't cheap out on RAM or it'll be hell to pay.

i've used mushkin for 2 pc's and this powerbook, and i'm very happy, they should give me an advertising discount.

now i need to figure out how to sneak the tower into my house without getting screamed at

Good luck! They come in a big heavy box with "G5" marked on the sides

Btw, I have Kingston "ValueRAM" and it works faultlessly.
