Hi

I was just wondering, my mate seems to think that my iBook g3 will be faster at booting up than my new Mac Mini, which i am waiting to be dellvered.

Is this true? How long does your mac mini take to boot up?

Thanks, James

In general, that should not be the case. With the same system on both machines, I'd expect the Mac mini to get the better boot times.

Boot time is largely disk-related, and the mini's hard disk is undoubtedly faster than the one that came in a G3 iBook. The mini also is much faster otherwise, which also helps a tad.

The mini should boot faster.

My Mac mini absolutely hammers my iBook G3 in boot times. I've not done a time comparison but the difference is so obvious that its not worth doing. However my iBook is the 500MHz model...

The MHz don't play a big role in boot times, as tooki already pointed out. It's a G3 as well, so it will have roughly the same HD specs as jamesl's iBook.

Again, jamesl, your mate is wrong.
