hey i am new to the powermac g5 world, i have been reading posts that people sleep their computer at night, which is better, sleep or shut down and why? im going to put my computer to sleep right now cuz im going to sleep. thanks

sleep just saves time when you want to use your computer. I use it all the time.

SLEEP!
Instant on, and less component stress - I only power down if I know I'm not going to use it for a couple of weeks (ie, once a year when I go on holiday)

when I'm away for a weekend or so I will shut down though. sleep is rarely used, however.

Neither, only display sleep. I don't like spinning down the hard disk. I'm sure technology has improved to the point where spinning it down doesn't add the wear and tear it used to, but also I don't have to deal with the hard disk spinning back up (takes a few seconds).
