Hey all,
I'm very very worried at the moment. I was adding a USB2.0 card to be new PMG5 1.8DP.. and as I was taking off the PCI slot covers the screw fell... now I don't know where it has gone. I turned the machine upside down and heard it fall somewhere and now its silent when I (very lightly) shake the machine --It seems to be wedged in something. The machine works fine, but I'm worried it'll get stuck in something.

2 questions.

1. Could it be in anything important? In the heatsink fins? In a fan? Behind/on the motherboard shorting something? The powersupply?

2. Will this effect my AppleCare warranty at all? (i've put the card in with another screw I had... not the same type - but it fits.)

Very very worried at the moment, thanks.

I can tell by the tone of your message that you already know this....you need to find that screw. Everything you mentioned could happen if that baby's laying in there somewhere.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

find it find it!

you'd be lucky if it was in the heatsink fins

not only would it be easy to find, but it wouldn't hurt anything but... I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that it's not in the heatsink fins.

Ahh. Thanks guys. I found the screw. It was wedged near the front grille at the very base. I used a magnet to lift it up from the front to a place where I could grab it.

*sighs with relief*
