Ok so how much do you reckon older G4's (less then 1Ghz) are now going for on eBay UK now the sub £400 mini has reached these shores?

Would you have guessed at £1120?

As I am in the market for a bargain used Mac for my mum (I am thinking around the £200 mark) I am keeping track on lots of G4's on eBay. This example for some reason has skyrocketed, am I missing something? It's seams to be just a 733 with a minor ram upgrade. £1120! They could have bought miltiple minis, paid less for the single proc G5, or spent a £100 more and got a G5 dulie. just Mental!

The used tower market is still viable, there are lots of reasons to opt for one over the Mini. But yeah, when a brand new G5 1.8 is 999 quid, it makes you wonder!

Its probably been sold outside of ebay already, and they just bid 3000 or something to stop anyone else winning the auction.

Modern Mac resale value has held up surprisingly well, but prices on that level are ridiculous. Of course, that is good news for Mac users planning to upgrade.

the winning bidder had 0 feedback and a link that says "not a registered user" next to their name now...apparently something fishy happened to that auction.

This forum is for discussing Power Macs themselves, not eBay nuttiness (crazy as it may be!).
