Ive got a problem with a second harddrive installed into my G5. Its a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB SATA.
When this was installed the drive got to hot to even hold and the fans on the G5 speed up as the temp rises within the G5.
I am wondering if anyone else has had a problem with this issue or it is just a faulty HDD?

Can consider "cooler" (less speedy) hard drive, ie 5400rpm drive. Some websites actually measure temperature of drives they test- tomshardware.com, storagereview.com

I wouldn't be so drastic as to go with a slower hard drive, but it would never hurt to check with the manufacturer or the people from whom you purchased the drive.
