iMac G5 clicks and locks up

Hi all, I recently purchased an iMac G5 17". Worked good for a couple of days, but then all of a sudden I started having problems. Every once in a while it will lock up for no apparent reason and the hardrive will make this knocking noise. It happens quite often and just completely freezes. This unit is only about a week old and I've taken it in to be looked at twice. I bought it from a local dealer here and of course they told me that "the hardware test came back ok." I just got it back today and when the screensaver was running and I clicked the space bar it made that knocking noise and just froze in screensaver mode.

Should I get my money back and buy elsewhere??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks is advance, Donnie

That is totally unacceptable. You should certainly not accept that kind of shabby service. If you can afford to be without it for a week or so (and the way it's running, it sounds like you can), bring it to the service provider and tell them to run extended tests on it. If you don't get satisfaction, either attempt to get your money back, bring it to another provider or call 800-SOS-APPL and give the Apple reps your story. Eventually they will tell you to get it ready to ship to them. Don't give up until you get satisfaction.

The hard drive is dying. Call Apple.

Thanks guys. I did let them run extended tests on it and they still told me that the hardware test came back ok. I think I'm gonna try to get my money back and buy another one directly from Apple. Since purchasing from this local dealer I have heard numerous reports of them selling "shoddy" macs. An office below mine has had no problems with any of their macs except for the ones that were purchased through them. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
