Has anyone had good experience with the Sonnet Tempo-X SATA 4+4 in a G5 (or G4 for that matter)?
BareFeats reports that they did, at some points, see the "disappearing SATA drives" oddity. The most glaring issue with this otherwise Extremely Cool card is the fact that you can't boot from it yet! Sonnet says the firmware is flashable and I’m sure that's what they're referring to instead of just plainly saying that it isn’t bootable. Still, this would be a major factor in purchase decision.

Anyone hear any skinny on this?

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

'Can't answer your question but I do have I have the Sonnet Tempo-X 4+4 with 3 internal 250GB Hitachi 7F250s. I also have two stock 250GB Maxtor 7Y250s in the standard mounts/slots. I use the "other" Maxtor with Carbon Copy Cloner for my System back up.

I've never backed up the System to the Hitachi/Sonnet setup, so have never tried booting from it. Other than that untried aspect, the Sonnet is transparent... don't know that it's there... no problems, the Hitachi drives always mount... unlike my problematic Firewire external drive.

Bottom line, I recommend the Tempo-X 4+4 and anticipate Sonnet will eventually release a bootable drive (if that's what's needed )
