Sorry for the duplication. I posted this in a topic for iMac G4's aparently.

How specific do the DIMMS need to be? I currently have two Crucial 512MB PC3200 DIMMS, Unbuffered, Non-ECC, CAS3 I'm using in my PC box. Not sure of the exact model number for the DIMMS. Will that work in an iMac G5, or does the RAM *HAVE* to be specifically made for Mac systems? Thanks.

The RAM doesn't HAVE to specifically be made for Macs, but it DOES have to meet some specific criteria
iMac G5 computers work with memory modules (DIMMs) that meet all of these criteria: PC3200, unbuffered, nonparity, 184-pin, 400Mhz DDR SDRAM.

There are two RAM slots. The maximum amount of RAM you can install is 2 GB. You can use RAM module sizes of 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB, in either slot.

DIMMs with any of the following features are not supported in the iMac G5 computer: registers or buffers, PLLs, ECC, parity, or EDO RAM.
Maybe yank one from your PC and/or look for a model number or a receipt/email from Crucial. It sounds like what you have will likely work.
