So I ordered my dual G5 almost 1.5 weeks ago now, and was quoted it would ship yesterday, I just get an email saying that due to unexpected shortages, it will be delayed to the 22nd. Has anyone else had this happen? If this isn't because of a 3 GHz upgrade, I'm going to be really pissed because I have the video card for it sitting right next to me, and can't even test it until I receive the G5. By the time I receive the computer, the time to return the video card will have passed.

Everything in it is standard other than the memory and HDD, and I can't see those having shortages.

While updates may be around the corner, such delays and emails from apple are normal. My PB was delayed but not as long as the email estimated the shipping date to be.

Hmmm...

I ordered my iBook last October right before they released the new models. They didn't tell me there were shortages, they just "froze" my order until the Tuesday when the new ones were released. Then my order status changed and all of a sudden I had a new iBook in the mail.

Good luck.

They could also simply be telling you the truth.

Return the card and buy another one after the computer arrives. Buy from somewhere else if necessary.

Yep, same here!

Ordered a D2.5 from Apple UK on 8th Feb, email gave estimated ship date of 11th Feb. At close of business on 11th Feb, got an email saying, blah blah blah now expected to ship on or before 25th Feb.

Would be really nice to think that new models are around the corner and that we *might* get bumped up to the new model, but I'm afraid to say I NEVER, EVER have that kind of luck. More like my G5 is being built the the very last 2 2.5ghz chips in existence and everyone else will get the upgrades.

Seems odd that they are giving shipping dates for next week tho, so here's hoping, especially if KraziKid is in another part of the world from me.

I'm kind of in the same boat as Krazikid, although I have 1Gb of crucial ram sitting on my desk waiting to be fitted. So what are the chances of it fitting into a next generation G5, should they happen to be updated next week?

Cheers,

Matthew

So, Krazikid, did your mac ship on on the 22nd then?

If they delay mine again from their second estimated ship date of 25th Feb, I'm cancelling the order and waiting for the next revision.

Cheers

Matthew

edit: just checked email 30 seconds after posting this, and got a despatch email from apple. Don't know whether to be happy or sad

They shipped it on the 17th after the second delay, but it was right before the 3 day weekend, so it is only now leaving Toledo, OH on its way to upstate NY. It left Anaheim on the 17th. Should be here tomorrow, in theory.
