Hi,
Does anyone know when the X800 will be available as a CTO option.
My D2.5 is currently in production hell - I'm sure apple uk aree waiting for 6800 Ultras to come into stock - and if there's a chance the x800 are available soon I'd be prepared to get them to put in an X800 instead of the 6800 Ultra.
I noticed that the 6800GT is no longer a CTO option, so thought maybe the X800 was about to jump into it's place. I rang Apple UK who had no idea either a) when the X800 would be available as CTO, or b) why the 6800GTs were pulled.
Any info would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Matthew

I would consider it if Apple charges less than retail for the upgrade, otherwise what would be the point of doing a BTO?

Sorry about multiple threads... i got a database error when I submitted the first thread, and couldn't work out how to delete it as there was no first post.

One email from a guy on xlr8yourmac suggests there aren't any immediate plans for Apple to offer an OEM X800.

When you see multiple empty threads, it's a database error, not user error. I'm trying to get it taken care of, but I'm not the database guy so I can't actually fix it myself.

That's too bad if true.

I suppose. But while the OEM option could be cheaper (don't have to replace a video card you've otherwise already paid for), the retail models have a few features the OEMs don't. VersaVision (display rotation) is one; the ONLY Mac video cards to offer display rotation are the retail ATI cards (Radeon 8500, 9200, 9800 and X800). The clock speeds also tend to be more inline with the PC equivalents. Apple cards tend to be a bit underclocked.
