Yesterday, I went shopping for some Ram for my G5 Dual 1.8 Rev. A at the local stores. I was in a hurry, and I did a quick search and found something about PC3200 DDR as the requirement for G5's.

Anyhow, I found this great deal for Kingston 512Mb ValueRAM "Kingston KVR400/512R PC3200 CL3" for $49 after a $30 rebate at Fry's. I purchased 2 of them but I have not opened them yet because today, I thought I'd make sure they were compatible.

I have searched for any mention in the threads to see if anyone else has had any problems with this. I did see that Kingston sells Ram made just for Macs, but no mention of ValueRam being compatable with the G5.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I've used Kingston before and you should have no problem with it.

of course I have a G4 though... and I'm currently using two sticks of Infineon and one of Viking.

but Kingston has served me well in the past.

BEWARE: I purchased two Kingston Value RAM 512MB sticks from Fry's about three months ago (during another sale) only to get them home and have them NOT work on my Rev. B dual 1.8 G5! What a waste of time. I ordered 2 512MB sticks from 1-800-4-MEMORY and they work great, no problems.

I've always bought my RAM from OWC. Same original price but of course no rebate.

You could check the specs on this one at OWC and compare it to the ones you have though. OWC RAM

The Kingston RAM kit that I bought for my Rev. B DP 2.0 from eWiz were a bit stiff and hard to seat. I eventually got them in, and they are high quality modules. Kingston is name brand RAM. Buckaroo, the modules you bought appear to be compatible from how you describe them - just ensure that they are not ECC modules and compatibility is guaranteed.
