Can you believe my disappointment? After having to wait over 6 months for supply constraints here in Australia (don't ask), I finally get my new G5. Then, after a mostly uninterrupted few hours of hassle free installation, I start getting random crashes. LOTS of them.

I have disconnected every thing. I have removed all third party RAM (swapped it in and out with genuine Apple RAM), tried resetting PRAM and NVRAM, and even from the hardware CD, this G5 hasn't passed one in 5 tests.

Strangely, it seems time related, not test related. That's to say, if it has less RAM, it finishes that quicker, but it will fail whatever test it is doing around 20+ minutes later (I have physically waited and witnessed two video card test fail).

BTW I have the 6800U with 256 MB RAM and the 20" LCD (new).

Any ideas? It weighs a tonne and is too big to fit in my car (in the box), so what are Apple's dead on arrival rules like?

Please e-mail macattack@internode.on.net if you have any bright ideas / it rings a bell.

First, call Apple. You may be able to get the thing replaced. Otherwise, you will have to take it in for repair. Those are your two options, as clearly you aren't going to accept it like this.

ACSA 10.4/10.3, ACTC 10.3, ACHDS 10.3

And yes, sux to be you (and I mean that in a nice way, not a bitchy sarcastic way)
