Okay, long story short: I ordered a geforce 4 titanium off ebay... it arrived... but doesn't work right, it artifacts like crazy:

The seller refunded me, he doesn't want the broken card back. Sooooo.... now that I have a 'free' quasi broken card.... how can I fix it? I've tried it in 2 other macs with teh same results.

ALSO: ARE THERE DRIVERS I NEED TO DOWNLOAD FOR THIS CARD?!?! I cannot find info on it anywhere.

If it's a Mac Geforce 4 Ti, it was sold by Apple as an OEM card which means the drivers should be in the MacOS.

A re-installation of OS X wouldn't hurt.

Already tried it in 2 other macs with a fresh OSX install.

No go.

It's all glitchy. What kind of warranty does Nvidea have? Would they fix it or replace it if I sent it to them?

On its face, it seems to be a card that was overclocked too high so there is little you can do.

It's an OEM card, Apple sells it, Apple supports it. They won't fix it or replace it as it was either part of a computer system and the computer is what is warranteed, not the parts, or it was sold as a separate card upgrade, which I don't think Apple warrantees. It would be out of warrantee anyway as it's wayyyyy old.

yes, you CAN overclock mac cards. ATI cards are by far the easiest though because of ATIcelerator II which is actually a soft mod. everything else has to be done with the actual card and I am not about to tinker with the actual card itself I just paid several hundred bucks for

So how does one overclock this card? PLEASE PROVIDE A LINK WITH INSTRUCTIONS. THIS WILL ALLOW ME TO UNDERCLOCK THE CARD. IF YOU FEEL LIKE SAYING IT CAN BE OVERCLOCKED OR CANT BE OVERCLOCKED PLEASE PROVIDE A LINK TO BACK UP YOUR POST.

I'm glad you found the link useful.

After you pointed it out to me in one of my threads about displaying frame-rates I've found it a very useful resource.

Perhaps if you were slightly politer in your tone, people may be willing to help you more.

I hope you find the answer you're looking for.

Best wishes,

Matthew

That's great Matthew, but putting in "Display FPS Quake 3" brings up results that answer your question. Type in 'overclock mac geforce titanium" and see what comes up... jack ****.

Point being?

I already tried google before I started asking here.

He did say "it would be much appreciated" and "please" before people posted dumb links/got testy.

I know how to do things on my mac that you don't-- and I'm not telling you what they are or how to find these things out for yourself. Nya, Nya!
