Hi there,
I need a spot of advice please ....
Recently I experienced a power cut followed by a power surge in my apartment which sadly 'killed' the hard drive of my two year old G4 iMac (10.3.8) before I could shut it down, fortunately I had made back-up disks so I have not lost any data.
My question is this; now that my iMac has a new 120Gb hard drive installed - at a cost of £283 - do I have to re-install the original system - 10.2.3 from the original disk - and then using software update, work my way back to 10.3.8? Or, because the hard drive is brand new, can I just re-install basic 'Panther' 10.3.1 from the CD immediately and then using software update work back to 10.3.8 ...?
I guess I also want some reassurance ...!!
Thanks in advance

You can install 10.3.1 from the disk and then use the Combo Update to get up to 10.3.8 from there.

Any applications you want that originally came with the iMac (if any) can be reinstalled from the Applications disk that came with the computer.
