Well I just returned from the AppleStore in Tice Corner. I spoke to a Manager there and I was told that the ONLY BTO option that would be available for the Mac mini After purchase is the Airport/Bluetooth Kit. It should in stores loosely by the end of March.

Also in the stores the have 3 configs. the 1.25 GHz standard config, 1.42 GHz standard config and the "ultimate" configuration that is the 1.42 with 512 megs of RAM BT, Airport, SuperDrive and 80 gig HD.

I don't know about the other stores but the one I went to has LOTS of iPod Shuffles and Mac mini's now.

Figured I'd share the FYI with all my fellow NNer's

Good to hear that AirPort/Bluetooth will be able to be added later at the Apple Stores. As of this past Monday, the Apple Store here (International Plaza, Tampa) still said they hadn't heard when they would be able to do that.

I plan on getting one without AirPort and Bluetooth to put that $100 towards a 1GB chip and adding the wireless later. Being able to take it into the store to have it done will make it easier when the time comes.

I think it'd be best to order the mini with BT when ordering. It costs the cheapest of the two upgrades and takes care of the kit that you would have to purchase later. So you could get BT now and later on add the airport yourself...or you could not and pay for airport extreme, bt, the kit, and maybe install later. I really wish somebody knew more info about this kit.

I think it will come down to price.

If the price to add it later is the same (or even slightly more) as the BTO price, I will add them both later.

Even if you get the BT as a BTO option at the time of purchase, I would imagine you would still need to get the AirPort antenna when you go to add the AirPort card later. IIRC, pictures I have seen of the insides with AirPort installed did not have the BT antenna there so I would think the flip would be true if you bought it with BT.

Though, even if you had to pay the $25 for the one antenna, that would be cheaper than $50 for both plus another $50 for the Mezzanine board. Hopefully the cost to add later won't be anywhere near this.

Looks like I'll have to make some calls tomorrow

I was told that it is supposed to be released on March 21st. As the person I spoke to said "loosely" Which could mean closer to the end of the month or April. Supposedly the price from what they told me will be $179 US,
