Hope I'm posting in the right thread here.

I have a G4, 400 mhz desktop, running on OS 9.2 (don't laugh!). It works just fine, with one exception. When I put it in "sleep" mode, it goes to sleep ... but then it wakes up less than 30 seconds later. What could be causing this?

Also, is there spyware availble for Macs?

Thanks for your help

it might have a setting to wake up at a certain time (check in the sleep control panel)
also, check if it has the option unselected to wake for ethernet network admin. access (don't recall the name correctly 'cause it's been more than one year)

also, you could have some card that doesn't allow the sleep (and the 30 secs could be the sleep attempt or something)

Has the mac always done this or just recently started? Did you install any new hardware or software before the problem occured?

Some PCI cards don't allow the computer to sleep properly (I have a firewire card which I can't use because of this problem) or there may be some software of hardware (ethernet port) causing the computer to wake, as Madrag said.
-More info about the problem's history is needed.

unplug any usb devices and see if it still happens. I used to have that problem whenever I tried to use a cheap bus powered hub.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
