hopefully this isn't too OT for this fora, since the card in question only works in G5 Powermac's hopefully i can edge by...

i've currently got a $600 CompUSA store-credit burning a hole in my desk here, and *really* want to buy an ATI X800 soon for my G5 tower... can anyone venture a guess, maybe based upon past offerings from ATI, when we might expect to see the X800 show up on the shelves at CompUSA's? asking at the manager at my local store didn't give me any clue when they might be showing up... thx in advance friends..!

I have a small online electronics business and in the last month I have only been able to get one card. Out of about 10 suppliers (small and large) they have had a total of 3 between them and I was lucky to get one. I keep seeing estimated in stock dates for all of the suppliers for the card come and go and get reupdated.

I don't understand ATI's deal on this card but with it's limited market you would figure it would not be that hard to meet demand. My guess is there is a major problem in the manufactering process and they are only getting a handfull of stable cards at a time.

Hopefully this will be remidied soon but on the PC side the X850XT Platinum Edition seems to be having at least as bad of supply problems. Actually nobody has even seen those yet.

Tell us what you think when you get it running.

I've got one and UT2004 has never been more fun. 1600x1200, 4xFSAA, 16xAF... absolutely beautiful.

Now if only Doom 3 would run so well...

i will later tonight, it arrived today and i took a look at the board already... i must say this is the *heaviest* ATI graphics card i've ever hefted, for its size it is definitely weighty! cant wait to see the difference between the X800 and the GeForce 5200 i currently have..!

Depending on the games you try, you may need to grab a spare pair of underpants.
