I have recently tried to upgrade my imac, I have fitted the ram correctly but the computer doesn't seem to be able to recognise it being there. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I activate the ram?

You shouldnt have to update anything. As long as it is DDR PC3200 and it fits it should work.

I do believe I have heard about some people having issues with "cheap" ram and it is recommended that namebrand memory is installed.

I myself installed CL2 memory and it worked fine as well as opposed to the apple memory which was CL3.
