Thinking about buying my kids a Mac Mini, but wondering what Apple policy will be with free upgrades to Tiger when it comes out??? (next weeks???)
Any opinions out there? Should I wait a few weeks, or buy it now and hope for free upgrade from Apple?

I think unless you buy your machine after Tiger is released you'll still pay but at a discounted price. Correct me if I'm wrong on this but that's what they made me do with iLife 04 when I bought my PB a week before.

generally apple only give free upgrades, if say tiger was announced and then you got your mac.
so if you get the mini today, there won't be a free upgrade, when tiger comes out.

I saw two shooting stars last night,
I wished on them, but they were only satilites,
its wrong to wish on space hardware,
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care.

How much will Tiger cost? Will it be just as expensive as 10.3 at $129? I am dealing with the same problem.... should I order the Mac Mini today or wait a few more weeks? Also, what are the chances that if they are announcing Tiger, they may bump up the RAM on the Mini?

Yeah, that's what I heard, too. I'd love to get one now, but from what I've seen of Tiger so far, it'd be a good idea to wait until the mini ships with it.

When an upgrade is released is it generally immediately put on the existing line of computers? I should have my new 19" LCD by the end of the week and don't want to wait any longer!

I think there is a period, i think a week or something when you can order before it is released and you may get it for free. Not entirely sure, but that is what happens when updates happen

meh, its too late now. My first order from Apple got canceled because it took my credit card over the limit so I just re-ordered it last night from PowerMax and I should get it next week.

If you buy your computer within 60 or 90 (I forget which) days prior to the announcement, you should be able to get it for about $30 through the Up To Date Program from Apple.
