Do I gain any advantages to have a cpu with L3 support when my mac already supports L3 cache? I have now a Sawtooth, and has been told that it would be an advantage for me, if upgrading, to get a cpu upgrade with L3 support as my mac don't have it. I am now buying a Digital Audio with L3 support. Is it still an advantage with cpu upgrade that supports L3, or can I go for a cpu upgrade without?

L3 Cache is on the CPU card itself when you buy an upgrade, it's not like a slot on your motherboard just for cache. It's not somthing you add later, either it's on the upgrade you get or not. It's good to have tho, as it does increase overall performance.
I have a Quicksilver Dual 800 that has dedicated L3 cache for each processor.

L3 cache on the CPU upgrade is an advantage due to the older G4's slow system bus. An 800MHz G4 without L3 cache will be slower and one with.
