As I posted elsewhere, I ordered a new eMac. I got it last Monday, a base eMac. I instantly kicked the RAM up to a GB and used it that way for a while. I also ordered a 250GB Maxtor HDD for $109 and an 8x LiteOn DVD+-RW (SOHW-812S). Installation was actually much easier than I imagined and for right at $1050 I got an eMac as nicer than if I'd spent $1400 at the Apple store (since a 250GB drive isn't an option), and all it cost me was a couple hours. Now I have just one tiny problem:
if there's no disc in the optical drive, ejecting the tray opens the front door of the eMac no sweat. If there's a disc in the drive, though, it doesn't spit it out all the way. It jabs itself into the eMac door and I can pull it down and the drive then ejects. Kinda irritizating. I guess the weight of the disc is either enough that the drive motor doesn't move as fast, or it actually angles the tray downward somewhat. Now the question: what can I do to fix it? Any suggestions?
BTW, if anyone's considering getting an eMac, mine did come with iLife 05 install DVD/CD (one of each; the CD doesn't have Garage Band or iDVD, the DVD has the whole thing), which I thought was nice, given that the software restore DVD's have iLife 04 apps on them.
