So, Steve's already declared 2005 as "year of high definition". How's that going to play out?

My guess is that we'll see a "special edition" Mac mini, called the Mac mini HD, intended to be connected to high definition TVs and sold as an entertainment hub. It'll have a great big hard drive, Dolby Digital Audio output, video in, and a superior video chip set. Of course, it will include a new DVR iApp for TiVo-like recording.

I'd also bet that at the same event they announce the iTunes Movie Store to download/rent movies (using Tiger's H.264 codec and QuickTime 7) and the iPod video for watching movies and TV shows on the road.

And where, pray tell, will the huge hard disk fit? There's no spare room in a Mac mini, and 2.5" hard disks only go to 100GB at this point -- not enough for a serious DVR.

it'll come with a 2TB LaCie external drive and cost as much as a top of the line Powermac

Oh, and charge $1000 for the base model.
