I want to get a mac for video editing. I have been looking at the G4 imac with around 1Ghz. I also saw a tower for sale with dual cpus

In general i am sure the towers a re better because i can upgrade it easily.
However, would it be dumb to buy a g4 imac for video editing??
Also, the imacs come with a slow dvd burner, if i get an external dvd drive, will the imac be able to keep up with a faster burner?

So i guess my overall question is--

what is the requirement for video editing. can i use a imac g4, or is it much better to get a tower g4?

thanks

you can do it with an iMac, but a tower with two hdds and two procs is definitely better for that particular application.

I did mine on a QS DP 800 with two Seagate 7200 RPM drives.

I just replaced it with a refurb DP G5 1.8 with two Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA drives.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

There is a refurb single G5 1.8 Power Mac with SuperDrive at the Apple Store for $1299.
There is a refurb dual G5 1.8 Power Mac with SuperDrive at the Apple Store for $1699.

There is also a refurb 17" G5 1.8 iMac with SuperDrive at the Apple Store for $1249.
There is also a refurb 20" G5 1.8 iMac with SuperDrive at the Apple Store for $1599.

Of course, new iMac and Power Mac revisions are imminent, too...
