I might buy a g5 that has no power cords or anything like that, just the maschine.
Does anyone know if i can use the cable that supply the power from my pc for the g5 or do i have to get a special type of mac cable?

Is there anyway to check to see if it has been stolen??
thanks people

Yes, you can use any standard, grounded power cord with your desktop Mac. As to your second question, Apple is said to maintain a stolen Mac database, but there is no automatic way to determine whether or not a given Mac is hot. I would say that unless you suspect your friend/acquaintance/contact is a big time thief it's safe to assume that you're not looking at a stolen G5. G5s are large and heavy; laptops are easier to steal and more alluring to criminals.

Thankfully the one consistant thing across all types of computer equipment, (moniters, CPU's Etc) is the standard power cord.

Yes, there are exceptions, but 98% of the time three prong male/female cord will work.

The one on the G5 is stubby and has an interestingly shaped connector. (thought the x-section looks normal).
I'm not sure that a regular PeeCee one would fit securely, but I can't imagine Apple charing that much for a genuine part.
