Is it possible to install a ASUS Radeon 9200 128 mg Video Card in my MDD PowerMac G4?

Asus Radeon 9200 requires a resistor on back to be moved in order to run properly with Mac ROM. This is beyond scope of most people's tech skill.

However, Connect 3D 9200 & 9250 AGP cards work 100% perfectly with Mac ROM. You can read up at Cubeowner.com. on this. They have become #1 Cube upgrade card as a result. DVI, AGP & S-Video all function perfectly.

Great little card.

Yeah, much better to do the mod on a card like this then pay for the mac version which is just silly to pay so much for an older card.

I think it's possible to flash the 9600 Pro as well as 9700/9800 cards. I havn't really seen anyone report too many sucesses with this but if you found out more about it that would provide a very cost effective way to get a fast card in your mac, and the pixel shaders would give you CoreImage support in Tiger.

Actually we have had a rough time with 9600. 2 people have gotten one to work. They used an 9600XT with the 9600XT ROM. Worked great except DVI wasn't functional. Also, big limitation with these cards is 90% are keyed 4X AGP ONLY.

Is cheaper to buy one pulled from a G5 for $70 or so. If you can do the ADC tab move, it will run an ADC monitor in a G4 and is a dual digital card. So, with G5 ones fairly cheap there is little incentive to work on flashing PC ones.

If we could find a 2X keyed one that flashed this would change. Why? Because it would be the ULTIMATE Cube card.

With work on G4 X800 & clocking for Nvidia cards taking up much of our recent time, 9600 has kinda been on back burner.
