Hi guys,

Sorry for the repost- but my last thread got locked...

I've been having problems with video not playing in my dock, with panther 10.38.

I'm running a dual G5 with 1.5GB ram.

Somebody mentioned logging out, or quitting the dock in terminal(?) or trashing a plist(?) I tried logging out, to no avail. Can anyone tell me how I can go about quitting the dock in terminal or trashing a plist?

many thanks, all...

Plists/preferences are found in ~Library/Preferences.

You can kill and thus restart the dock in the terminal by first using the top command. Look for the dock and get its PID (the 3-digit number under the first column). Press q, then simply type kill "dock's PID" where "dock's PID" is the dock's PID.

Good luck.

that was me I think. sorry for not clarifying. as stated above first get its process ID number (PID) by typing top in terminal (and hitting enter), then kill it. It is not always 3 digits by the way. as apps are launched and quit the PID numbers keep climbing. for example my dock PID is 26157 since my ibook has been running for over 100 days. so I would type kill 26157
