My all-in-one G3 conked out the other day. Now it can't start up. The screen turns white and the words "can't open file" repeat and repeat until the screen is full. I have tried installing other drives, but the same thing happens. Also tried reinstalling system. Eveything seems fine, but when it restarts, the problem returns. Please help.!

Specs: all-in-ne G2 233 mhz, 128 ram, MacOS9.2, 6 HD. (stock, w/o mods)

Does it make uncommon sounds during startup, like beeping, sound of a car sliding and smashing into a wall (no, i´m not kidding)? Does the normal startup chime appear? Does startup process reach the "smiling Mac" or is a Floppy disk icon with a blinking ? visible? Have you tried to boot from a known good system disk/CD?

Hmmm.... Your symptoms sound like a bad ROM - do you anybody else with a Beige G3 where you coudl borrow the ROM DIMM from?
The gene pool needs cleaning - I'll be the chlorine.
