I purchased my computer in August of 2004 to great hype. Upon the first 3 months the computer worked just great, no problems. In November the problems started happening, every time I would take my computer out of sleep mode it would lock up and cause the fans to go into a frenzy. I called Apple and they made me run numerous tests, they said the fact they can't duplicate the problem they can't help. I took my computer into an Apple authorized fixer and they couldn't find anything wrong.

I have continued to have this problem through Feburary, at times it would be terrible for weeks, then stop for weeks, on and off. I called Apple and had every test done to the thing. Nothing! Anyhow, they told me to call right when the problem happens, so I did that they still could not figure out what the problem was, then the real problems occured. The computer quit turning on, it would take upwards of 7 to 8 times to get on. I called Apple and they thought it might be the video card and told me I need to take it to the shop. They told me first to take it to SamAsh music, and if that doesn't work take it to CompUsa. First off SamAsh doesn't fix computers so I took it to CompUsa. They excepted it on March 23 and told me they could fix it. Meanwhile it was my Spring Break for college, so I didn't need it. They told me it should be done within 5 business days. Well ladies and gents its not April 10 and I don't have my computer back. I called them on April 3 to find out the deal cause that is when I got back from Spring Break, and they told me they never had gotten it fixed because they aren't an Apple Authorized fixer, well this particular one! So now I am approaching mid-terms and I dont have my computer!!!! I called Apple being the fact they told me to take it there, and they basically feed me lines and told me I needed to take it some other place. I told them no, I have Apple Care and they need to get this taken care of.
I have asked for them to just send me a new G5 being the fact my computer has been taken apart and put back together 3 times now by different places. They said they wouldn't do that, instead they sent me a wireless keyboard and mouse for my troubles. Now I appreciate them sending me these but I still don't have my computer!!! I am writing on my G4 laptop which is doing fine, but I am an film editor and need my powerful computer for such practices.

Now I just want you guys to tell me any good ideas for Apple to send me a new computer or help me with what I can do in this situation. Apple and CompUsa are both giving me lines for the lenght of getting it fixed, they both are aware of the problem and haven't even attempted to help me, now is this a good consumer company or what???

Most certainly do not take a Mac to be serviced at CompUSA. Go to an Apple Store or a decent Authorized Service Provider. If you feel like it, call 800SOSAPPL and ask to have your call elevated to a second level tech or a manager. If you're polite but persistent you'll get the service you desire.
